Andrea Soto Frumkin
Andrea Soto Frumkin's background and education have fully prepared
her to direct Mexico Advisor's Title Division and deal
with cross-border issues. Growing up in a stimulating and enriching
San Miguel de Allende household, but spending summers with grandparents
in New York and New Jersey, made it possible for her to enjoy
the varied cultural benefits of two countries. Her American,
artist mother and Mexican, lawyer father, made sure that she
would always feel at home in either setting. In keeping with
this pattern, Andrea enrolled at Ithaca
College, in upstate New
York and graduated with a BS in International Business.
After graduation, she went to work, in Querétaro,
for Industria
del Hierro as the U.S.-Mexican liaison and manager of
the price analysis department. The position required that she
travel extensively and negotiate contracts with U.S. suppliers
such as Bechtel and Petromarine.
She then was hired by Quetzal
Films, a small entrepreneurial film company that allowed
her to wear many hats. Through this flexibility, she gained further
valuable experience, primarily in project administration and
finance. Although Quetzal's business focused largely on film
production, Andrea undertook a major project involving the research
and development of a film studio complex designed to house production
studios and a film institute. Assignments to open and market
the company's boutique hotel and a stint as a production manager
further demonstrated her diverse capabilities. In addition, she
used her bilingual, bicultural skills when convincing potential
clients in the U.S. of the benefits of filming and producing
in Mexico. All of this experience clearly serves her well today
as a principal with Mexico Advisor.
Andrea spends her free time, traveling, watching films, reading and appreciating art and art history.
